Advanced Anatomy: The systems of the human body, and the impact yoga has on these systems

50 hours

Part of Yoga Hero’s 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Course

Tuesday 20th – Sunday 25th April 2021, 8:30 – 4:30pm

An understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy is absolutely fundamental for yoga teachers. When you’re teaching people how to move, it’s non-negotiable that you have a framework of understanding about how the body moves. However, despite this being exceptionally important, humans are so much more than just muscles and bones. This Advanced Anatomy training is designed to give you an in-depth look at all the systems in the human body, aside from musculoskeletal (which we dive in to, in a different 50 hour TTC module.)

Like our entire 300 hour Teacher Training Course, this training is designed to uplift your understanding of yoga, and your teaching confidence and skill, to the next level.

As part of Yoga Hero’s 300 hour Advanced Teacher Training Course, author of ‘Holistic Anatomy: An integrative guide to the human body’, Pip Waller, will lead us through this wonderful 50 hour module, delving in to the systems of the body; taking us through each system’s functions, characteristics and interactions.

As yoga teachers, we know that nothing works in isolation. We know that posture can affect the mental state, we know diet can affect the cardiovascular system. We know that being in nature, or practising yoga, or drinking enough water can positively affect how we feel; physically and mentally. We will look at each anatomical system; cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary, nervous, endocrine and reproductive; how they work individually and how they interrelate.

Each day will also include a short physical yoga class to counteract being seated for most of the day, and meditations with the intention of consolidating learning, all lead by Holly.

This 50 hour module can be attended as part of our 300 hour course, or on its own.

The Overview

Once we’ve looked at each system in depth (bearing in mind, nothing works alone, so we’ll explore a system when looking at another as we go along anyhow), we’ll take some time to explore how a malfunction of one system will affect the rest of the body, or how illness signs and symptoms can manifest from one system to another.

Yoga’s impact on the human body

To complete the course content, we’ll take a deep dive in to how yoga with all it’s practices beyond just the physical, affect the physical and mental state of a human.

Coronavirus Contingency Update

Updated 9th April 2020

Should social distancing and / or lock down measures be in place to stop the spread of COVID-19, we will offer part, or all, of this course online, using ‘Zoom software’; or something similar.

Our priority would be to hold the teacher training altogether in the Yoga Hero studio, however, should part or all of the training move online, it’s great to know that there are many benefits to attending an online training including:

  • You get to attend from your own home, so no travelling each morning and evening
  • We’re able to share slides with images and text in a digestible format
  • There’s real clarity to all the information
  • You’re able to record lectures for future reference

If part or all of the training will be held online, in advance of the training, we will hold a ‘test’ online session for all to attend; to get a feel for the software and for the format. It can feel alien at first to consider learning online, but we’ve experienced great success with this so far.

Our Teacher Training team will keep you posted at all stages, and if learning online is not something that works for you, we would happily postpone your place to a future training.

About Yoga Hero

Restorative Yoga Teacher Training

Yoga Hero has been established since March 2013. Initially, classes were ‘popping up’ in church halls, arts galleries, cafes, skateparks… you name it! Over time, we eventually found a beautiful home in Leeds Dock.

At Yoga Hero, we passionately believe in the value of continued learning, and we strive to provide an exceptionally high level of training, in all the courses that we offer, at the studio and internationally.

About Leeds Dock

Leeds Dock

Yoga Hero is based in a beautiful part of Leeds called Leeds Dock. Leeds Dock is a 10 minute walk from Leeds Train Station, or there’s a free water taxi service between the train station and the Dock!

Around Leeds Dock are many affordable hotels, such as:
* Holiday Inn Express (Two minutes’ walk)
* Jury’s Inn (Five minutes’ walk)
* Ibis (Five minutes’ walk)
* Malmaison (Ten minutes’ walk)

There are also many very reasonably priced AirBnBs on the Dock

Leeds is a quite small city with loads going on. The whole city is walkable by foot, probably 40 minutes’ walk from one end to the other at a steady pace. There’s many independent restaurants and cafes, with our favourite North Star Coffee Shop just two doors down from the studio, serving incredible coffee and food during the day.

If you have any questions about Leeds; what to do, where to stay, or how to get here, just ask the team: // 07743513225.
