ONLINE: Runners Yin / Yang Yoga

These monthly workshops are specifically tailored for the needs of runners, helping to build strength and develop balance, and find deep release for tight hamstrings, hips and quads. The workshops also create space to cultivate a sense of inner focus and mastery of the breath.
Each workshop begins with a meditation to focus the mind, as well as breathwork to both support our exercise and calm the mind.  We will then move through an active yang flow, focussing on building strength in the legs and core, as well as working on balance.
We will then move into a yin practice. Yin yoga is a fantastic complementary exercise for runners – in yin we hold poses for longer periods of time (around 5 minutes) in order to create a slow and gradual release in tight areas of the body.
Practising yin can help to increase your range of motion and finds a deep release in the fascia (connective tissues) – promoting longevity for your running.
Yin also encourages stillness and inner focus – helping us to tolerate discomfort and stay calm when the going gets tough – key attributes for any distance runner.

Perfect for runners of any distance – yoga beginners and beyond!


* If you are a daily runner and are planning a run on Saturday, it is advisable to run before the workshop, and allow your body time to rest afterwards. *

Props required for class:


– 1 x bolster – 1 x strap

– 2 x bricks

– 1 x blanket


A couple of additional cushions or pillows would be handy to have around, just in case any extra propping or padding is required. If you have an eye pillow available please bring that along too.

There are many things you can use as an alternative to yoga props, please see the ideas list below, and get creative!


– Bolster alternatives: cushions (you can put some in a pillow case), Pillows (I suggest two in one case for extra support), sofa cushions, rolled up blankets, a rolled up yoga mat if you have one to spare

– Strap alternatives: pair of tights, dressing gown tie, tie – Brick alternatives: thick books, lunch boxes, tinned food cans

– Block alternatives: thinner book (e.g cook book, coffee table book size), rolled up blanket, cushion
