The Yoga Hero Book Club is back!

 


We’ll be reading the wonderful book The Wakeful Body: Somatic Mindfulness as a Path to Freedom by Willa Blythe Baker.

 

During this book club session we will:

  • Begin with a grounding meditation
  • Discuss some of the key concepts from the book
  • Learn some somatic mindfulness practices
  • Have some time at the end to reflect on our discussion

 

This book and discussion session is perfect for people who:

  • Are interested in down-to-earth mindfulness practices connecting mind and body
  • Love to learn!

 

How it works:

  • Get a copy of the book, might be second hand, might be an audio copy, or if could be a spanking new one, just for you, using our affiliate link – https://uk.bookshop.org/a/5870/9781611808742
  • Read and / or listen to just as much of the book as you can
  • Come to our free book club session, on Wednesday 19th October. You can say as little or as much (well, within reason!) about your take on the book, listen to others’ viewpoints and just generally connect over a very, very important subject

About Kay

 

Hello, I’m Kay.

I went to my first yoga class in 2013 looking for a way to rehabilitate from a horse riding accident that left me with chronic pain. A couple of years later, I started my doctorate in chemistry and quickly found that yoga also helped me deal with the stresses of research and imposter syndrome. I did my 200hr teacher training at Yoga Hero in 2021.

I teach slow flow yoga classes designed to improve mobility and strength, whilst empowering you to learn more about your body and really get in tune with yourself. I often include meditation and pranayama (breathing) techniques, as well as poses held for a bit longer which are supported by as many blocks, blankets and bolsters as you’d like! 

I’m a scientist, runner, musician, outdoors lover, and I work full-time in publishing. I am an eternal student, an avid reader, and I’m always, always learning!
