STUDIO | Ashtanga: Self Practice

Friday 03.02 – 7:15-8:30am


Join Jess to delve into the world of Ashtanga self practice!


Within these sessions, you will move through the Ashtanga primary sequence at your own pace, guided by your breath. This is the traditional way to practice Ashtanga yoga! It encourages us to build self awareness and a real commitment to our own practice. Through one-to-one guidance you will learn the sequence at your own pace while being surrounded by the energy and focus of other practitioners around you.


Beginning with sun salutations, Jess will then tailor the sequence to suit every individual. Adding on one posture at a time, you build and learn the sequence posture by posture, to find modifications and variations that work for you. Jess will ensure that you move through a well-rounded sequence and leave plenty of time for relaxation at the end.


This class is 60 minutes, but you are very welcome to arrive at any point throughout that time depending on your energy levels and leave when ever you feel is right for you. Each practice allows you the opportunity to build and learn the Ashtanga sequence, receive one to one guidance and through repetition we are able to tap into a moving meditation and truly tune in with ourselves.

*  Yogis who already come to Ashtanga classes at Yoga Hero or who are curious about Ashtanga yoga!

*  Newbies very welcome!

About Jess


Jess began practising yoga in California, embedding it into her daily life upon realising the many physical and mental benefits. As a musician, Jess found that flowing, especially to music, was a valuable and expressive tool that could alter mood and energy levels, whilst also strengthening and releasing tension from the body.


Now a 200hr registered yoga teacher, Jess’ classes are influenced by Vinyasa and Ashtanga practices while also embedding yin and restorative styles. Jess offers modifications and variations throughout her classes to make them accessible to all, builds awareness of the mind body connection and in turn, enables everyone, to feel the many benefits of a holistic yoga practice.
