Yoga Workshop for Skiers and Snowboarders
It’s the time of year when some of us are lucky enough to take to the slopes or local snowdome for winter sports. For some this can be an exciting prospect and for others fills hearts with trepidation.
Join Zoe for this friendly and informal workshop designed to help us make the most of our time in the mountains, whatever our level of experience and emotional response to the hills!
We will start by travelling through some handy warm up stretches and twists to help prevent injury in your chosen sport, particularly when traversing rapidly from a cold standing position to high intensity exercise. We will then explore some dynamic flow work incorporating standing poses and balances to build strength and flexibility for these winter activities. This is followed by some fun partner work to build strength and confidence. This may include some gentle human made ski lift simulations!
Nearer the end of our time together is an opportunity to learn and support one another through sharing ways to respond to anxiety and fear, which can then be applied when standing at the top of any daunting piste. A mountain mindfulness exercise to help us be fully present in our experience and a comfy savasana (relaxation) will round off the morning.
