Mysore Style Yoga

Mysore is the traditional form of Ashtanga yoga as taught by the late Sri K Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, South India.

In a Mysore Style Class, the student is taught a sequence of postures through one-on-one instruction. The movements, breath, and other aspects of the practice are learned gradually, in a step-by-step process accessible to anyone. This method allows each student time to practice and memorise what they have learned before adding more.

Students are able to practice independently and at their own pace while surrounded by the energy and inspiration of other students in the room. The main teacher is able to work with each student individually.

Many people really want to start a yoga self practice, but the idea of self-practice might feel overwhelming. Mysore Style allows you to practice at your own pace, under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Don’t worry if you feel like you don’t know many poses, or indeed any at all. Whatever your level of experience, or fitness level, we can guide you through your yoga practice safely and beneficially. Mysore style self-practice is for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners.

The only requirement is a willingness to learn!

You are welcome to arrive whenever you wish between 6:30 – 8:30, and stay as long as you wish! This means it’s absolutely perfect for anyone struggling to get up in the morning, but really wishing to start morning yoga.

Thankyou so much Yoga Hero and Naama for launching the Mysore early morning classes! Within the space of two short weeks, to my surprise, I have found myself with much more energy and in such a good mood for the rest of the day!
