Mysore is the traditional form of Ashtanga yoga as taught by the late Sri K Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, South India.
In a Mysore Style Class, the student is taught a sequence of postures through one-on-one instruction. The movements, breath, and other aspects of the practice are learned gradually, in a step-by-step process accessible to anyone. This method allows each student time to practice and memorise what they have learned before adding more.
Students are able to practice independently and at their own pace while surrounded by the energy and inspiration of other students in the room. The main teacher is able to work with each student individually.
Many people really want to start a yoga self practice, but the idea of self-practice might feel overwhelming. Mysore Style allows you to practice at your own pace, under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Don’t worry if you feel like you don’t know many poses, or indeed any at all. Whatever your level of experience, or fitness level, we can guide you through your yoga practice safely and beneficially. Mysore style self-practice is for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners.
The only requirement is a willingness to learn!

Thankyou so much Yoga Hero and Naama for launching the Mysore early morning classes! Within the space of two short weeks, to my surprise, I have found myself with much more energy and in such a good mood for the rest of the day! Little did I know that a morning yoga practice would enable me to reap the amazing benefits of yoga for the whole day ahead!
I am completely new to Mysore yoga and Naama has given me guidance to enable me to develop my practice gradually. After many years of trying to get up early and failed…..I can now finally say I am a convert early morning riser! I now look forward to waking early to attend the Mysore class because I love the feeling it gives me for the busy day ahead! Never in a million years did I think I would be in a yoga studio at 6.30am and its all down to the lovely Naama for making me feel welcome and at ease being new to self practice! Thankyou!!
