Pregnancy Yoga at Yoga Hero

Pregnancy is an exciting, wonderful, and scary time!
At Yoga Hero, we’re offering pregnancy yoga for all stages of pregnancy, and for all levels of knowledge, to offer you and your bump some much needed, and much deserved, chill time for body and mind.

Take pressure off key areas such as legs and lower back, build stamina and strength to support your growing bump, and generally chill out in this fabulous class.

During each session of Pregnancy Yoga, we’ll indulge in a lovely pregnancy yoga flow, suitable for all levels of fitness. No prior yoga knowledge or experience is needed, all are very welcome!

We recommend not starting a yoga practice from scratch in the first trimester. If you’re really keen to continue exercising, then Pregnancy Yoga is probably the safest way to do so, but if you can sit tight to around 14 weeks, this is what we would recommend.

These classes are very special – for a very special time – and not to be missed. You will stretch out aching bodies, find stability and support, feel deeply calm and relaxed, enjoy time and space to bond with baby and meet other Mums to be. All postures, breath, sound and relaxation techniques will support the body as it changes through pregnancy and prepare mentally, emotionally and physically for labour.

If you have an established yoga practice before becoming pregnant, do join us for Pregnancy Yoga, at any stage, to learn about what to expect in the months ahead and how to modify your yoga practice accordingly.

Please do get in touch if you’d like to ask our advice on your pregnancy, just email hello@yogahero.co.uk and we’d love to chat it through with you.

Frequently asked questions:

Who is the class suitable for?

For ladies from 14 weeks of pregnancy onwards. This is because it is not advisable to start any sort of yoga practice until week 14 of the pregnancy as the first trimester is the time when the body is working it’s hardest to grow baby.

What if I have never done any yoga before?

No experience is necessary and pregnancy is a great opportunity to start yoga. This is an all levels class and all movements and practices are specific to pregnancy so it’s quite different to a general yoga class.

I want to continue with my usual yoga practice. Can I?

If you are an established yogi and understand how to adapt your practice to suit your needs then you may continue with a regular yoga class, however, please observe suggested modifications from your pregnancy yoga instructor.

What if I have additional health issues or difficulties such as Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP)?

As with any yoga class, adaptations can be made to suit your needs. You will be asked about your health before the first class and are asked to update the teacher with any changes from week to week. Pregnancy Yoga can be a great way to support the body through changes and it can help to manage and prevent symptoms such as PGP, back pain, heart burn etc.
