Let’s be honest, we love our little ones more than anything. The little giggles on the swings, the first time they roll over, the first homemade card brought home from nursery – having a child is the most magical way to turn your world upside down.
But, let’s get real, being a parent is the hardest job you could ever take on. Every day is a mental marathon! What with night feeds, keeping them entertained when Peppa Pig on loop won’t suffice and the realisation that you haven’t actually managed to get a wash for a couple of days. And you can’t clock off like a normal job – you have to take a deep breath, dust yourself off and gear yourself up to do it all over again the next day.
As parents we constantly think about how we need to take our little ones to playgroups to teach them social skills, buy them a foil blanket and twinkly lights to stimulate their senses, give them five portions of fruit and vegetables, ensure we squeeze in tummy time (the list is endless!) – but what we always forget and tend to push to the bottom of the list is the stuff for OUR OWN wellbeing.
At Yoga Hero, we are a strong believers of happy parent, happy baby. It’s perfectly natural to be stressed, wiped out and in need of a reboot, so if you’re tired of the same four walls, our yoga retreat day is the perfect way to relax and unwind. And despite the stereotypical image of yoga, you really don’t have to be able to do the splits and sport Lycra to reap the benefits of yoga – it really is just about learning techniques to help the mind, body and soul.
The parents day retreat will be made up of gentle yoga, meditation practices and breathing techniques, all with parenting in mind. You will learn different meditation techniques to enable you to relax and practice mindfulness ‘on the job’ within your busy days.
Mums, dads and carers are welcome to the day retreat to be held at Yoga Hero on Saturday 21st September 2019, 10am-4pm.
