ONLINE | Knowledge Hero Study Workshop: The Bhagavad Gita

Yoga is so, so much more than just the physical practice. Our Knowledge Hero Workshops are a chance to learn about the philosophy of the practice; going beyond moving the body and much more in to the ways of life.

The philosophy of yoga can help us understand and appreciate so many aspects of life, who we are as a person and why we feel the way we do. Learning about the philosophy is so eye-opening and empowering, and can teach us so, so much. Many people study the philosophy of yoga for years, even decades, as the learnings you’ll take from reading one day will be completely different to the following day, following month, or following year, depending on what’s going on in your life at the time.

This workshop will cover the story of, and context to the Bhagavad Gita, before concentrating on Chapter 2; widely accepted as containing all the important points from the whole of the book. We’ll look at the messages conveyed in the story, and discuss learnings from these.

Workshop Content:

* Starting with a grounding meditation to get in the learning zone

* Dive in to a short but effective Vinyasa Flow yoga session to loosen the hips, shoulders and spine ready for immersing in the Bhagavad Gita

* Short break

* Context to the Bhagavad Gita; where the story came from

* An overview of Chapter 2

* Read together key sections of chapter, discussing the messages and personal impact

* An overview of the rest of the book

* Intention setting

* Q & A

About Holly:

Holly Mcfee is the owner of Yoga Hero Ltd. Holly has been practising yoga for seven years, and teaching for five years. Holly embarked upon her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training here in Leeds, and after balancing a full time job and teaching yoga for just six months, went full time in to teaching.

In August 2015 Holly opened the Yoga Hero studio in Leeds Dock, and in June 2017 this studio expanded to become one of the largest dedicated yoga spaces in the North of England.

Holly, along with Angela Jervis-Read, leads Yoga Hero’s 200 hour Vinyasa Flow Teacher Training Course. Her interest in anatomy borders on the ridiculous, and she is really passionate about yoga instructors having at least a basic understanding of how bodies move, and how joints work, to ensure a safe environment for yoga students.  These workshops provide a safe space to recap on the basics and deepen anatomical knowledge, to make your yoga teaching, and your yoga practice incredibly effective, as well as safe and enjoyable.
