She began ballet training at a young age and found the physical & mental benefits of Yoga to be massively complementary to her dance training. She has a diploma from the College of Dance Ireland and a BPA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2014.

 

In 2016 she travelled to India and found herself at the Mathatitu Yoga Ashram where she trained with teachers from all over India studying Ashtanga and Sivananda and Hatha Yoga.

 

The notion of curiosity is a key part of Sophie’s practise; the ever-changing body meeting the ever-changing world and all of those spaces in between. In a one to one session with Sophie you can expect to be challenged physically but also soulfully. There is no practise of Yoga without the emotional connection; working from your present state of mind is something Sophie feels necessary. Being present can lead to a deeper understanding of the body-mind connection, freeing up more space for discovery. With some alternative ways of working/living with the body you are in, you allow for more room to grow and expand. Sophie will work with you from where you are at, tailoring a practise that makes sense with your lifestyle and at a pace that is practical for you.
