Sometimes, tension can creep in to neck and shoulders without us realising… and before we know it, the whole area feels tight beyond belief. But, it doesn’t have to be this way!
First of all, take some time to assess your everyday movements and habits, including how you sit at your desk – you want the weight of your head to be distributed evenly down your spine, not having to use the muscles at the back of your neck to hold your head, how you carry your bags – always on the same shoulder? And how you sleep (more on this in a future post…).
That said, some gentle movements around the head, neck and shoulders relieve tension, by increasing blood flow, reducing tension and just generally increasing general feelings of wellbeing.
