STUDIO | Pure Relaxation – Release tension, find ease

Join Claire for 90 minutes of blissful, unadulterated relaxation at this in-studio Restorative Yoga workshop designed to help you release tension and find ease in mind and body.

Restorative yoga is a slow, gentle, floor-based style of yoga which supports our nervous system and helps to bring us to a state of calm and balance. It is characterised by the use of props to completely support the body which enables long but effortless holdings of each pose. This allows the body to soften and release deeply-held tension, shifts the nervous system into relaxation (or rest and digest mode) and enables a deep connection with the breath. Restorative yoga supports healing and rejuvenation of the body along with calmness and evenness of the mind so can help to relieve stress, aid sleep and support recovery from illness or injury.

For this special workshop, Claire has carefully curated a selection of poses to help release and soften the areas where we most commonly hold tension including neck, shoulders, middle back and hips. The class will begin with relaxation and very gentle stretches before moving into the restorative section. Claire will be on hand to help you find the optimal comfort and alignment for your body in each pose.

What to expect:

  • Simplicity
  • Quiet
  • Long periods of stillness and rest

Perfect for:

  • All levels of experience including complete beginners
  • Those looking to release tension and find ease
  • Relieving stress, aiding sleep and supporting recovery from illness or injury

* This workshop includes Restorative Yoga – Please be aware that due to the nature of this practice the body can tend to get quite cold; as we enter the parasympathetic system, the body slows down with little movement and blood pressure lowers, which can make you feel cooler. We advise to bring cosy warm layers and an extra blanket for warmth and comfort. *

About Claire

Claire has been practising yoga since 2001. She started attending a weekly Iyengar class after moving to London and was completely hooked from the start. She remembers leaving class with a clear head, springy limbs and feeling light as air! In 2003, she tried an Ashtanga class and so began a lifelong love of this practice. In 2009, she became a student of Joey Miles and has maintained a regular practice under his guidance ever since. In 2010 she travelled to Mysore, India to practice with Sharath Jois, Paramaguru (lineage holder) of Ashtanga Yoga.

In 2017, Claire completed the triyoga Teacher Training Programme (350 hr) under the expert tuition of Joey Miles and Anna Ashby (Asana), Carlos Pomeda (Philosophy), Chris Swain and Andrew McGonigle (Anatomy and Physiology). In 2019 she completed Anna Ashby’s Restorative Yoga Teacher Training also at triyoga London.

Claire has a keen interest in anatomy and a fascination with the innate power of the breath to support movement, unwind tension and aid our physical and emotional wellbeing, which she incorporates into her classes. She aims to make her classes welcoming and accessible with sequences designed to build strength and flexibility and ultimately leave her students feeling relaxed and energised.

Claire teaches Ashtanga, Hatha and Restorative yoga with an emphasis on alignment and mindful, breath-led movement. Her classes include a balance of precision and flow and her teaching is inspired by her own experience, practice and yoga heritage.
